THE GREEDY ANT - By Scott Lucas (age 8)
Many years ago there was an ant called Antony. Antony was a very greedy ant. This is why Antony was so greedy............. 

One sunny day it was Antony's ceremony for growing up. So he went to the place where the head of the ant colony and the other ants were. The head of the ant colony made a speech saying only to build 2 tunnels, not any more than 2. Antony thought in his mind...I'm not going to listen to him. I'm going to build 20 tunnels and they will be much better than the other ants' tunnels. When the ceremony was over, Antony went far away where nobody could see him and started on his 20 tunnels. 

Antony made the tunnels quickly, so they weren't very well done. Ten days later Antony had finally finished the 20 tunnels. Antony went above the ground and took a nap. After he woke up from his nap, he felt the ground shake. It felt like an earthquake. After the ground stopped shaking, Antony looked for his tunnels, but couldn't find them. Antony had learned his lesson not to build more than 2 tunnels.
